Just when we thought day one of the UK Food & Drink Shows with its mix of insight, inspiration and innovative products couldn’t be topped, day two comes along and does just that.
Tuesday at the NEC ushered in a raft of new regional winners, Best Newcomer and an overall Retailer of the Year in the returning Farm Shop and Deli Show Retailer awards, while a brioche loaf flavoured with matcha stole the show in the search for Britain’s Best Loaf.
It was standing room only for the 2023 Retailer of the Year Awards, in partnership with The Grocer and supported by Glebe Farm Foods Ltd and Quality Ornamentals Horticultural, as crowds flocked to recognise specialist retailers who are playing an important role in supporting, developing and empowering their teams.
After much deliberation and secret visits, Flourish Foodhall & Kitchen in Bristol was named Newcomer of the Year, with Cunningham Butchers, Food Hall & Steak House, in Kilkeel landing the coveted Retailer of the Year gong. For the full list of regional winners, plus judges’ comments click here.
With almost 1500 suppliers showcasing their wares across the Farm Shop & Deli Show, Food & Drink Expo, Foodex Manufacturing Solutions and National Convenience Show, Wednesday is shaping up to be another triumph, as we welcome food and drink leaders of tomorrow for a panel discussion on the brands breaking down barriers. We will also examine the future of food to go and hear from the Plant Based Food Alliance – a coalition of organisations from across the UK’s plant-based value chain.
Wednesday also sees the culmination of the ultimate retail test – The Dragon’s Pantry. Visitors are invited to watch brave entrepreneurs square off against our fearsomely experienced industry ‘dragons’ in a series of 15-minute pitches. Success could bring a new listing for one hardy brand, plus coverage in The Grocer.
