The Brainfood Factory Highlights

New for 2012 and brought to you in association with The Grocer and Restaurant Magazine, Food & Drink Expo's - The Brainfood Factory - will play host to daily sessions focused on the issues facing food and drink businesses today.
  • Head-to-head interviews with Levi Roots, food critic Jay Rayner and social entrepreneur, Arthur Potts Dawson
     
  • Expert advice focused on helping smaller suppliers and retailers compete with the giants on their doorstep in Being Small, Thinking Big
  • Ask the Editors on Sunday 25th - past and present, Clive Beddall (1964-2002), Julian Hunt (1997-2006) and Adam Leyland (2006-present)
  • Live cooking demos in Come Dine Regionally led by the regional and country food groups
  • Sessions led by Alex James, former Blur bassist and cheesemaker, and influential campaigner Tristram Stuart

Farm Shop & Deli Live Highlights

Once again forming the central hub of Farm Shop & Deli, this area will be a taste sensation!  Focused on speciality retail in its entirety, join us for product tasting sessions, brand-led case-studies, business advice from start-up to expansion, online retailing, regional support and funding.

  • Mark Lloyd, chef and wild food expert, leads 'The Foraging Demo' and discusses trends such as the emerging street food scene
  • Nicky Dorwood, owner of Limes Farm, cooks up a typical menu from their school meals programme in Farm Shop Diversifications
  • 'The Dragon's Pantry led by Guild of Fine Food director, John Farrand.  Four lucky producers will be pitching their products to a panel of food experts

Skills for a Changing World of Work

Food Manufacture magazine and the Institute of Food Science & Technology are running a half-day conference on the morning of Monday 26th March at Food & Drink Expo.  This is aimed at HR managers and professionals within the food and drink processing sector to discuss some of the biggest issues facing the industry at the moment - the impending skills crisis, new approaches to training, and the latest thinking on recruitment and retention of staff.
